Installing Oracle 23ai on Windows

Great news for Windows users! Oracle has introduced a free on-premise version of 23ai for Windows.

Exploring new Oracle versions is always a good idea, especially when the installation process is as straightforward as it is with 23ai for Windows. I'm thrilled to guide you through each step of the process.

Before starting the installation, let's look at the prerequisites.

The system requirements are very simple and straightforward for Windows:

For my installation, I am using Windows Server 2016 Datacenter edition.

The installation requirements are very important as this makes a huge difference if its going to be easy or you have to go back and forth. I am using a vagrant environment and the user "vagrant" is part of Administrators group.

After extracting the software on the Downloads directory. I started the installation clicking the Windows installer file "Oracle Database 23ai Free"

The next step is to choose the proper location for installation.

I chose to install the software under "c: \app\oracle\product\23ai." After this, you have to provide the passwords for sys, system, and pdbadmin.

The final step is to check if the specified directories are correct and proceed with the installation by clicking "Install."

If you have validated the system and installation requirements, then the installation should move without any issues.

The installation went very smooth and the new database is created without any issues and I was able to login.
